Taster   Dave Broom
Nose: Chewy with some complexity: stewed fruits (apricot), barley sugar, sealing wax, sultana, coconut, light sweet spices and crystallised fruit.
Palate: Perfumed start, dried apple and a hint of smoke. Bitter chocolate. Layered, honeyed.
Finish: Oaky, mature.
Comment: Broader than most. Great blending of old, mature whiskies.
Taster   Dave Broom
Nose: Sweet. Vanilla, raspberry ripple, soft grain. Floral (daffodil). Attractive.
Palate: Fragrant and soft-centred with blossom, dry hay, juicy apricot notes, vanilla. Rounded. Good balance.
Finish: Nutmeg. Long, gentle.
Comment: A very sound, approachable and pretty classy blend.
Taster   Michael Jackson
Nose: Softly fragrant. Toasted marshmallows and chocolate.
Palate: Spritzy freshness. Seville oranges. Toast.
Finish: Hearty interplay of heather, gentle peat and pine-log smoke.
Comment: Seems restrained at first, but needs time to open up, at which point it becomes quite loqacious.
Taster   Martine Nouet
Nose: Heady. Artificially flavoured sweets. Fresh paint. Then much better. Drying hay. Freshly squeezed orange. Marzipan. Milk chocolate bar.
Palate: Creamy, chewy. Fresh oak. Pear and almond pie. Eau-de-vie cherries.
Finish: Hot, dry, slightly bitter.
Comment: Quite ordinary. Surprisingly firey for the strength. Lacks delicacy.
