Nose: Grassy but grass by the shore.Wet seaweeds and sand.Hint of bonfire. Green tea.Sweet notes creep through on time.Lemon posset.Complex.
Palate: Smooth and rich.Oily.Sweet malty notes quickly flooded by a hot pepper wave.
Finish: Cooling down on sweet almond.
Comment: Anenticing combination of sweet and warm.AnHebridean welcome dram. Would also workas a wakeup call. Very more-ish.

Taster   Dave Broom
Nose: Scented with light violet. Distinctly briny; wet rope, dried salt on canvas, wet green fern and the light leather. With water, you are on the shoreline next to the embers of a bonfire.
Palate: The complexity continues, balancing strawberry with cracked pepper, bay leaf, purple smoke, edible seaweed.
Finish: Salted chocolate.
Comment: A drop in strength from the Special Release expressions but a massive upping in complexity. An instant classic.

Nose: Heather honey with smoke underneath. Salty again but everything softened by oak. Wet sails, oilskins, cough sweets, bitter orange peel, white peppercorn and Lochaber smoked cheese. Mature and rich. Complex.
Palate: Multifaceted, rounded and harmonious. Smoke is there but also a dense savoury fruitiness. Great balance.
Finish: Elegant and long with a little pepper.
Comment: Bold, subtle, sweet yet smoky. Class.

Nose: At first an almost tangy rhubarb, apple and blackberry crumble, buttery, then first aid kits: bandages and plasters. A little boot dubbin note and soft gentle peat emerges.
Palate: Soft silky and mouthcoating, hints of salted caramel ice cream, tablet and runny honey. There is a peppery note lurking together with exotic spices.
Finish: Fruity, tangy and spicy.
Comment: Stunning, complex and loaded with layers of flavour and aroma. Would be fun to pair with some sushi.

Taster   Arthur Motley
Nose: Melon and sweetened, stewed rhubarb. Dark chocolate sauce, roast hazelnuts and some Dettol medicinal notes.
Palate: More of that chocolate, some quite astringent tannins and chilli spice.
Finish: Brooding smoke and a little salty chlorine. Possibly a light soapiness too.
Comment: Certainly complex, and a phenolic element that wove slyly in and out of what was a coastal experience.
8.8
Taster   Martine Nouet
Nose: Waxy. Beewax. Cider apple. Dry almond. Distant peat. Hint of phenols.Damp wood. The phenolic notes slowly rise up.
Palate: Dry and crisp. Quite bitter. Earthy and peaty. The fruit notes from thenose are absent.
Finish: Dry, spicy, almondy.
Comment: Lacks expression when neat. Water tones the bitterness down andreleases a refreshing minty whiff.

Taster   Dominic Roskrow
Nose: An enticing combination of sweet and warm. An Hebridean welcome dram.Would also work as a wakeup call. Very more-ish.
Palate: More savoury than the nose but still sweet. Grapey and with some peach all over a peat bedding.
Finish: Medium with fruit and smoke in tandem.
Comment: Is this really Talisker? Not bad at all, but a surprise all the same.

Nose: Soft and creamy with perfumed smoke in the background. Tarry beaches, sandalwood. Danish oil. Wet rope. Marine. Balanced.
Palate: Thick, peach then a blast of peat, pepper, salt. Flows over the tongue. Tamed with water making it rounded and elegant. One to tease out.
Finish: The peat comes...and stays.
Comment: More subtle than the 18 but still feisty.

Nose: Herbal. Lemon balm. Humus. Wet leaves. Vanilla rises, custard and trifle aromas. Sea spray. Beautiful.
Palate: Sweet and lively. Then bursting out on liquorice and spices. Nutmeg. Hint of cinnamon. Distant smoke.
Finish: Lingering, dry. Nutty. Cinnamon.
Comment: Rich and luscious. Needs a dash of water to cut spirit harshness. The marine influence is overwhelmed by wood but in a charming way.
