Taster   Martine Nouet
Nose: Sort of a cross between an old style chemist shop and a patisserie: sweet pastries and brioche mixed with an earthy, Barbour jacket note.
Palate: A zip of citrus followed by an apple and poached pear sweetness. There is a peppery bite as well as waves of soft peat smoke.
Finish: Creamy oak with that earthy note returning in time.
Comment: Oak slightly dominates but this would be nit-picking. A great well aged dram.
Taster   Dave Broom
Nose: Oaky and lightly oily. Wet decks and light alcohol. Has depth and heft. In the background some burning heather and a little sweet leather.
Palate: Very sweet start and then a peppery attack, but this time it is covered with more fruit and oakiness. A lightly herbal quality creeps in at the back. Rich and chewy.
Finish: Delicate smoke emerges.
Comment: Great age but a little grippy. Undoubtedly a great dram but not a patch on the 25 Years Old.
Taster   Rob Allanson
Nose: Lots of fruit and sweet notes then turns more to burnt sugar with a hintof coffee. Layers of pepper and a little smoke too.
Palate: Big and chewy with a slightly bittersweet oak touch. Just a hint ofginger and dried herbs.
Finish: Hot and peppery.
Comment: Very complex but very appealing.
Taster   Martine Nouet
Nose: Fruity and malty. Pear drop. It slowly opens up on lovely vanilla syrup andlight toffee. A pleasant herbal note. Green tea mixed with basil. With water,an earthy and peaty touch.
Palate: Firm but round. Oak is more present than on the nose but pleasantlyframes the malty flavours; and again this herbal character.
Finish: Dry, slightly spicy.
Comment: A well structured dram. More appreciated neat than diluted. Waterenhances oak and bitterness.
Taster   Martine Nouet
Nose: Perfumy. Sweet.Butterscotch .A touch of creosote.Distant smoke.
Palate: Oily.Smooth. Mouthcoating. Velvety. Sweet herbal tea.
Finish: Sweet,a bit soft.
Comment: A pleasant dram but it does have the expected nerve. Alcohol is perfectlymastered though. But one could expect better from a 30 Years Old Talisker It does not taste Talisker.
Taster   Dominic Roskrow
Nose: Fluffy apple. Lemon aspirin. Doughball.
Palate: Vegetal, woody, with oil and smoke and a salty tangy after-taste.
Finish: Grungey,with salt and pepper.
Comment: Doesn't taste this old, doesn't taste like Talisker. Doesn't reach this distillery's greatest heights.
