New centre Auchentoshan Distillery,home to Scotland's only triple distilled single malt whisky, has provided an injection to Glasgow tourism with a £500,000 investment in its visitor centre.

New centre Auchentoshan Distillery,home to Scotland’s only triple distilled single malt whisky, has provided an injection to Glasgow tourism with a £500,000 investment in its visitor centre.The new look facility offers visitors the opportunity to enjoy personal distillery tours, sample the wide range of Auchentoshan whisky and sit back to enjoy a film in the new cinema.The visitor centre will also provide spacious and flexible conference and event facilities and is located close to the city centre,Glasgow Airport and Loch Lomond.Mike Keiller, chief executive of Glasgow based company Morrison Bowmore Distillers, which owns the Auchentoshan Distillery, commented: “The distillery has been a long standing Glasgow landmark since it was established in 1823. As Glasgow continues to grow as a key tourist destination, this investment will put Auchentoshan firmly on the map for people visiting the city for both business and pleasure.” Landmark barrel Heaven Hill Distilleries,America’s largest independent family-owned distilled spirits producer and the world’s second-largest holder of aging Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey, recently celebrated the filling of Bourbon barrel number 5,500,000.Heaven Hill is only the second continuously operating bourbon producer to reach the historic benchmark.“It is indeed a proud day for our company and our extended Heaven Hill family,”said president Max L.Shapira. “That the filling of this historic barrel is personally overseen by two generations of my family and two generations of the family of our Master Distillers Parker and Craig Beam makes this occasion all the more auspicious and historic.” Pipers rock on Thailand’s No 1 imported Scotch whisky 100 Pipers has reinforced its presence in South East Asia with the sponsorship of ‘Bangkok 100 Rock Festival 2008’– a deal worth 50 million Thai Baht (US$1.5m).The show took place at the Thai Army Sports Stadium in Bangkok in November and attracted 30,000 visitors each day.
