Four Roses Bourbon and Rocky Balboa have a lot in common. They’re both well-aged winners with a lot of fans. And now they’ve crossed paths in the latest Rocky Balboa movie.Four Roses Yellow Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey is used in the movie during a scene between Rocky, the retired heavyweight boxer, and his brother-in-law, Paulie, who’s appeared in all six Rocky movies. In the film, Rocky owns a restaurant in south Philadelphia where he tells patrons stories of glory days. The premise of the latest flick is about the legendary boxer being pitted against the current heavyweight champ, Mason “The Line” Dixon, in a computer simulated fight.About a half-hour into the movie, Paulie walks into Rocky’s restaurant, turns on the television at the bar and pours himself a glass of Four Roses Yellow.During the scene, Paulie and Rocky watch TV coverage of the simulated fight, which inspires Rocky to fight one more time.“I remember Four Roses growing up. It was my grandfather’s favourite drink,” said Stallone. While Four Roses Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey was popular when Stallone was a youngster, ironically it is not currently sold in the Philadelphia area, the location of the movie. However, “We get a lot of e-mail from people in Pennsylvania who are Four Roses fans so we know they’re getting it somehow,” said Four Roses Master Distiller Jim Rutledge.“It’s an honour to have our bourbon in a blockbuster movie like Rocky Balboa,” added Rutledge. “Rocky is an American hero and it’s great to know that Sylvester Stallone had a spot for Four Roses in his film.”
