Glengoyne is giving whisky fans the opportunity to get a bottle of its new single malt in exchange for their time – rather than their money.
Those who pledge a day's volunteering with the distillery's long-standing charity partner, the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust (WWT), will be in with a chance to get a bottle of its new 15 Years Old expression free of charge.
Successful pledgers will carry out maintenance work at one of the WWT's UK sites, including coppicing trees, clearing vegetation, and removing invasive plant species. In exchange, they will receive a bottle of the Glengoyne 15 Years Old single malt and a personal invitation to visit the Highland distillery for a tour.
In 2011, Glengoyne became the first Scottish distillery to adopt a wetlands facility – a crucial habitat in the UK for biodiversity – to process 100 per cent of its liquid waste.
Katy Muggeridge, brand director at Ian Macleod Distillers, said: "The environment is at the heart of everything we do, and our 11-year partnership with WWT is testament to this. In launching the 15 Years Old, we wanted to give back to the beautiful ecosystem that allows us to produce our single malt.
"By donating just one day of your time to WWT, whisky fans will be able to help protect carbon-capturing wetlands, aid the conservation of migratory geese, and take home a bottle of this excellent new dram.”
Georgie Cox, WWT corporate partnerships manager, said: “Glengoyne constantly shows such vocal support for the importance of wetlands, and, thanks to this support, we’ve been able to show how much these green spaces can do for people and the planet in our fight against climate change."
The Glengoyne 15 Years Old (43% ABV) is available to buy direct from the Glengoyne website and from specialist retailers (RRP £90).
