Ardgowan launches limited-edition Clydebuilt Riveter

Riveter, a single grain whisky, is the fourth release in the company's independently bottled Clydebuilt series

19 June 2023

Scotland's Ardgowan Distillery Company has unveiled the latest release in its Clydebuilt whisky series.

Riveter has been dedicated to the work carried out by riveters in shipbuilding yards along the River Clyde. It is the fourth limited-edition release in the Clydebuilt range, following the Coppersmith, Shipwright, and Sailmaker expressions. However, unlike its predecessors, Riveter is a single grain whisky rather than a blend, created from 15 casks sourced by Ardgowan from an unnamed Lowland distillery.

Ardgowan's master whisky maker, Max McFarlane, said: "Clydebuilt Riveter has allowed me to further explore the depth of flavour found in Lowland distilleries resulting in a liquid that treats the senses to new delights and is sure to be another winner for Clydebuilt.

"Riveter pours like liquid gold, with a nose that opens on dark fruit compote before moving into furniture polish, lemon curd, figs, leather and old books. The palate is dry and moreish, with butterscotch, five spice, mint choc chip and brown sugar. A lingering, lovely, and very smooth finish follows, drying down slowly."

Clydebuilt Riveter (50% ABV) is available from and specialist retailers with a recommended price of £52.50.

The Clydebuilt series is a range of independent bottlings released by Ardgowan while its own distillery is constructed on the Ardgowan Estate, near Inverkip in the Scottish Lowlands.
