Australian distillery Hellyers Road has announced the return of a much-loved expression to its range.

When first released in 2014, the Hellyers Road Original 12 Years Old single malt proved so popular that the entire stock was bought up within 18 months – a speed which master distiller Mark Littler admits was surprising.

But fans of the expression now have reason to celebrate, as a new batch of the Original 12 Years Old has been released onto the market. A total of 3.000 bottles are available – with keen interest already shown – and Mark says another batch of 12-year-old stock will be ready to bottle in 2021.

"It's really exciting," he said. "Our oldest whiskies are now approaching 20 years of age and are reserved for ultra-premium single cask releases, however we are thrilled to again be able to offer this lovely core range 12 years old single malt which was so popular previously."

Hellyers Road Distillery Original 12 Years Old is available at the cellar door at its distillery in Burnie, north west Tasmania and online, and will soon also be available at major and independent stockists.

Tasting notes supplied by the distillery say the Original 12 Years Old has the 'citrus and vanilla flavour profile of its Original whiskies', with age adding 'a new richness and character dimension.'
