The Sixteen hailed as the 'missing piece' of the Speyside distillery's whisky collection

Speyside distillery Benriach has announced that it is bringing a 16-year-old single malt back to its whisky range.

The three cask-matured Benriach The Sixteen is a renewed recipe of a classic expression from the distillery, which formerly won accolades including Best Speyside Single Malt at the World Whiskies Awards.

The expression is returning to the Benriach portfolio after a six-year absence, helping to bridge the gap between the distillery's 12-year-old and 20-year-old whiskies.

Rachel Barrie, Benriach's master blender, said: “The return of Benriach The Sixteen is a very special moment for the distillery as it is one of our most treasured expressions.

“Our signature Speyside style blossoms at 10 years old, finding depth and richer layers of orchard fruit character as it turns 16. Our core flavour components of fruit, malt and oak become more concentrated, enriched with age at 16 years old, bringing layers of stone fruit, smooth creamy malt, wild honey and nutty oak spice.”

Bottled at 43% ABV, Benriach The Sixteen is available to purchase from specialist retailers in select markets globally from November 2022.
