Spirits merchant and independent bottler Berry Bros & Rudd has refreshed its Classic Single Malt Whiskies range.
Chosen by spirits curator Felix Dear, the whiskies showcase the spirit character of three well-known whisky regions and different cask styles and also include age-statement bottlings for the first time.
Whiskies from Islay and Ireland, which are represented in the existing Classic range, have been joined by two age-statement expressions from Speyside.
The range comprises (with tasting notes from Berry Bros & Rudd):
– Speyside Sherry Cask 12 Year Old (45.3% ABV, RRP £45), a rich whisky with a sherry-forward profile of fruit cake and baking spice.
– Speyside Traditional Cask 16 Year Old (48.2% ABV, RRP £100), complex yet approachable with notes of dried fruit, hazelnut, and butterscotch.
– Islay Traditional Cask (45.3% ABV, RRP £45), combining the island's characteristic peat smoke with complex orchard fruit and melon notes.
– Irish Reserve (44.2% ABV, RRP £45), a single malt from the Great Northern Distillery in Dundalk with grassy, herbaceous, and citrus notes.
Dear said: “The refresh of our Classic Range of Single Malt Whiskies marks a new chapter for Berry Bros. & Rudd. It is the touchstone of our whisky offering for whisky explorers and connoisseurs alike, and testimony to our constant pursuit of excellence and innovation.
“All four whiskies in the range have developed distinct intricate flavour profiles, perfect for everyday sipping. Designed to be complex yet versatile and will pair perfectly with food or if you’re feeling adventurous — great also in a cocktail.”
The Classic Range will be available from Berry Bros & Rudd and other selected retailers from 22 April.
