Bladnoch Distillery has refreshed its core collection of age statement whiskies, which will now be known as its Heritage Collection. New whiskies Bladnoch 13 Years Old and Bladnoch 16 Years Old will join the range.
The additions join Bladnoch’s 19- and 30-year-old whiskies under the Heritage banner, and replace the previously included Bladnoch 11 Years Old and 14 Years Old. The latter whiskies will no longer be available.
Bladnoch 13 Years Old has been matured in bourbon barrels, which the distillery says has resulted in notes of florals, honey, citrus, apples, and a hint of wood spice.
The Bladnoch 16 Years Old is matured in oloroso sherry casks. Bladnoch says the whisky has notes of raisins, orange peel, fruitcake, cinnamon, and chocolate. Both new releases are bottled at 46.7% ABV.
In an additional update to Bladnoch’s portfolio, its Classic Collection has been renamed to the Twinned Cask Collection. The name reflects the process behind the four-strong collection, during which two cask types are married together. The whiskies themselves (Vinaya, Liora, Samsara, and Alinta, all of which are natural in colour and non-chill filtered) will remain unchanged.
Dr Nick Savage, master distiller at Bladnoch Distillery, said: “The introduction of the Heritage Collection and the Twinned Cask Collection is an evolution of our core portfolio of Lowland single malts, and I’m proud to unveil our latest age statement whiskies as part of this work.
“This is an exciting milestone in our brand development which reflects Bladnoch’s unwavering commitment to excellence, ensuring that we can continue to share our maturing whisky stocks with our fans around the world as the distillery grows and develops.”
Bladnoch 13 Years Old (RRP £85) and Bladnoch 16 Years Old (RRP £110) are available via Bladnoch, along with the Heritage and Twinned Cask collections.
