Chivas Regal dials up the smoke for new expression

Blended Scotch brand Chivas Regal has released Chivas Regal Extra Smoky Cask Selection, a new cask-finished addition to the Chivas Regal Extra range.

To enhance the smoky character of the new whisky, Chivas Regal used ex-peated whisky casks to finish its blend. Smoky casks are a usual component in the making of Chivas Regal expressions, but the Extra Smoky Cask Selection takes their influence from subtle to pronounced.

Chivas Regal says the new release has notes of spiced apples, roasted chestnuts, cranberries, caramel, and cinnamon, with bonfire smoke.

Sandy Hyslop, Chivas Regal master blender, commented: “With a focus on quality and a spirit of innovation, we are always seeking to elevate the experience for the modern whisky drinker — and Chivas Regal Extra Smoky Cask Selection does just that.

“By driving the idea of adding ‘extra’ flavour to our whiskies through new and exciting extra cask finishes, we are responding to consumer demand and exploring new flavour profiles in Scotch. The deep and rich notes in our latest expression bring a new and sophisticated edge to the Chivas Regal Extra range, offering whisky lovers a smooth and smoky tasting experience.”

Through the Chivas Regal Extra collection, the brand uses casks to "focus on flavour"; previous releases to the range have used whisky finished with Tequila, oloroso sherry, and bourbon casks.

Chivas Regal Extra Smoky Cask Selection will be released exclusively in Turkey in November before a global roll-out. For more information, visit chivas.com.
