To celebrate the Oscars, which will be held on Sunday 2 March, we've chosen a cocktail which uses Heaven's Door whiskey — the brand co-founded by Bob Dylan, subject of Oscar-nominated biopic A Complete Unknown.
In issue 204, Dylan's co-founder Mark Bushala told Whisky Magazine that "Dylan didn’t want Heaven’s Door to be recognised as ‘Bob Dylan’s whiskey’. He preferred a subtler approach, one that invited consumers to discover the deeper story behind the brand."
For the Dissident Old Fashioned, PX sherry is added to the Old Fashioned recipe, complemented by a chilli chocolate garnish.
- Ingredients:
50ml Heaven’s Door Whiskey
10ml Pedro Ximénez sherry
10ml sugar syrup - Two dashes Angostura and orange bitters
- Method:
Stir all ingredients over ice in a rocks glass, and garnish with chilli chocolate.
