Speyside seems to be on the tip of the whisky world's tongue in the last few weeks. Not only does the annual Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival begin later this month, but last week it was revealed that a Speyside whisky had won World's Best Single Malt in the World Whiskies Awards 2025, bringing the title back to Scotland for the first time since 2021.
Here at Whisky Magazine, we also ran a Speyside year-in-review in our latest edition (pick up a copy here, or become a member!). And to round it off, Whisky Magazine editor Bradley Weir tried some Speyside whiskies for our Instagram page recently.
So, to continue this Speyside spectacular, this week we're mixing up a Speyside Cobbler. This recipe, shared by the iconic Glenfiddich Distillery, pays tribute to sherry-cask whiskies by complementing Glenfiddich's single malt with amontillado sherry.
Ingredients:
- 45ml Glenfiddich 12 Years Old Sherry Cask
- 45ml amontillado sherry
- 15ml simple syrup
- Orange slice
- Dark maraschino cherry, to garnish
- Method:
- Add the whisky, sherry, simple syrup, and a half-wheel of orange to a shaker tin and shake with ice. Strain into a highball glass over crushed ice. Garnish with dark maraschino cherry.
