Irish spirits retailer the Single Malt Shop has announced it is selling a complete set of the Glenfarclas Family Casks range.
The range was launched in 2007 with 43 single cask single malts, produced between 1952 and 2004. It was designed to chronicle the evolution of the Speyside distillery, which has been owned and operated by the Grant family since patriarch John Grant purchased it from founder Robert Hay in 1865. The series has seen several reincarnations over the past 19 years, resulting in more than 380 vintages being bottled.
The Single Malt Shop has acquired a set of 52 Glenfarclas Family Casks bottlings – one for each vintage from 1953 to 2004, with whiskies aged from 14 to 59 years old and bottled at cask strength. The set is being sold as a whole, with a price tag of €250,000 (£214,100 / US$272,800).
The Single Malt Shop's managing director Ed Forrest said: "After just recently selling an entire vintage range of Midleton Very Rare, we are very excited to bring this remarkable Glenfarclas Family Collection to market. Devotees of Scotch and single malts have nothing but the highest regard for what the Grant family have achieved. Their Glenfarclas Family Collection represents the finest bottlings they have created and we are honoured to be able to share them with our wonderful customers."
