Following on from the successful launch of Cotswolds No 1 at the beginning of the year, the UK-based distillery has launched Cotswolds No 2 Whisky Amaro, which it says would be a good addition to any home bar in time for Christmas.
Using the award-winning Cotswolds Peated Cask Single Malt Whisky as a base, the Cotswolds No 2 features a selection of botanicals including chamomile, citrus and herbs to create a herbaceous liqueur with spices notes and a slightly bitter finish. It is bottled at 40% ABV and is non-chill filtered.
By contrast, Cotswold No 1 Whisky Amaro used the flagship Cotswolds Single Malt Whisky as its base, with a blend of botanicals including vanilla, citrus and spice to create a lighter liqueur with herbal and floral notes.
Tasting notes supplied by the distillery say the Cotswolds No 2 has smoky and sweet aromas, with light smoke, sweet burnt caramel and herbal notes on the palate and a long, bittersweet finish.
Both Cotswolds No 1 and Cotswolds No 2 Whisky Amaro are available through the distillery's website, priced at £34.95 for a 500ml bottle.
