Dalwhinnie launches 17 Years Old 125th Anniversary Edition

The limited-edition single malt whisky is available to try through a special tasting experience at the Highland distillery

07 November 2023

Scotland's Dalwhinnie Distillery is celebrating its 125th anniversary with the release of a limited-edition 17-year-old whisky.

The new single malt and its bespoke bottle design have been created to celebrate the Highland distillery's journey over the past 125 years. It is being launched alongside a dedicated tasting experience for visitors to its the distillery on the western edge of the Cairngorms National Park.

The liquid for the 17 Years Old has been finished in heavily charred American oak barrels. Its bottle design, which incorporates elements of the Highland landscape and the distillery itself, was inspired by stories from the Dalwhinnie team about the history of the distillery and their experiences there.

John Hart, distillery manager at Dalwhinnie, said: “Our team here at Dalwhinnie lives and breathes our whisky, so what better way of celebrating our 125th anniversary than using their expertise and passion to help create something as special as the 17-year old 125th Anniversary Edition.

“Our history, location, and the Scottish elements all play a part in making Dalwhinnie as unique as it is, so we wanted to make sure this was reflected in this special release which we are all extremely proud of. We look forward to welcoming people from across the world to join us in raising a dram to this milestone anniversary throughout November.”

Fewer than 5,000 bottles of the Dalwhinnie 17 Years Old will be made available, priced at £280. The special-edition tour and tasting is available until 17 November and can be booked at malts.com.
