Dewar’s has opened a new visitor experience at its Aberfeldy distillery in Perthshire. Marking a significant investment in visitor services by Dewar’s, the new Warehouse Experience explores Aberfeldy’s history and the double ageing process behind Dewar’s blended Scotch whisky.
The experience is held in the warehouse buildings originally built in 1898. The site is particularly significant to Dewar’s history: Aberfeldy is the only distillery in the company’s portfolio that was built by the Dewar brothers.
During the Warehouse Experience, visitors will explore the Old Filling Store to learn about the casking and maturation of Aberfeldy. In the Blenders Bothy, the four-stage ageing process of Dewar’s Double Double range is shared. It’s here that Dewar’s master blender and malt master Stephanie Macleod joins every tour — as an avatar projection. Finally, a Dewar’s quiz and personalised tasting reveals guests’ “Dewar’s persona”.
Macleod shared: “Dewar’s Aberfeldy Distillery stands as a testament to the Dewar family's rich legacy in whisky making. Its location, blessed by the pure waters of the Pitilie Burn, not only provides a pristine water source for our Aberfeldy Distillery but also connects us to the timeless traditions and craftsmanship of our forebears.
“With guests now able to visit our iconic warehouses, built in 1898, they will now gain a deeper understanding of the final steps that our new-make spirit takes to become the premium, quality whiskies that go on to be enjoyed around the world.”
Dewar’s Aberfeldy Experience, which includes the Warehouse Experience, is open for bookings now via the Dewar’s website.
