Diageo’s annual special releases whisky collection is this year titled Legends Untold, as drinkers are invited to scan an on-pack QR code to listen to stories read by actors Lorne MacFadyen and SIobhan Redmon as they sip.

For the first time, the collection features bold and detailed illustrations and design work digital illustrator and poster artist Ken Taylor, whose work also features in the videos.

Master Blender Dr Craig Wilson, who selected the whiskies in the collection, commented: “We have delved into the core characteristics of several classic distilleries, exploring the elements and reimagining the liquids for the Legends Untold collection. The mythical creatures of this year’s collection represent the true expressions of the distilleries. Taking inspiration from them, we have revealed new depths of flavour and embraced the essence of each of the whiskies unique flavour profiles revealing the legend it brings to life. This year’s collection is just the very beginning of the story.”

The collection includes a 13-year-old Mortlach from the Speyside Dufftown distillery, an 8-year-old Talisker 8 (the ‘sea monster’) and two Lagavulin expressions, among others.

The 2021 Special Releases collection is available in limited quantities from specialist Scotch whisky retailers and malts.com.
