There are various ways to locate particular distilleries, whether it be by searching spirit type or searching by location. Upon clicking through to a particular distillery, there will be information on their history and the type of dram they create, as well as various images.
Chris Swonger, DISCUS president and CEO, said on the launch: “Destination Distillery is poised to become the go-to resource for spirits fans to dive in and discover the story behind their favorite beverages while finding new places and spirits along the way.”
The website is said to build upon the foundation of the American Whiskey Trail, a tourism initiative created in 2004. The website includes various whiskey trails, although it must be noted that it’s still very much a work-in-progress in regards to content, and there are still many distilleries and trail spots that aren’t yet included on the site.
Philip McDaniel, CEO and co-founder of St. Augustine Distillery and chair of the DISCUS Craft Advisory Council, commented: “With well over 30 spirits trails across the United States, the growth in spirits tourism is helping to transform communities surrounding distilleries and boost state and local economies. This is the first tool of its kind to provide consumers with a comprehensive list to discover established distilleries and explore trails across the entire country – from the Pacific Northwest to the tip of Florida.”
