The Distillers One of One auction of unique whiskies and whisky experiences has revealed details of its second event.

Following the rip-roaring success of its inaugural sale at Barnbougle Castle in December 2021, the Distillers One of One will be holding its second auction at Hopetoun House near Edinburgh on Thursday 5 October 2023.

Organised by the Distillers' Charity, the philanthropic arm of the Worshipful Company of Distillers, and renowned auction house Sotheby's, the Distillers One of One sales bring together collections of one-off Scotch whiskies from distilleries across the country.

The first sale – supported by leading Scotch whisky companies including William Grant & Sons and Gordon & MacPhail – raised £2.4 million for charity, of which £2.2 million was donated to the newly created Youth Action Fund to support disadvantaged young people across Scotland.

The Distillers' Charity expects to secure between 35 and 40 unique lots for its 2023 sale, the second of three One of One auctions planned over a six-year period. Founder-donors of the Distillers One of One will be returning, including Bacardi (John Dewar and Sons), Brown-Forman, Campari Group (The Glen Grant), Diageo, The Glenturret, Holyrood and Pernod Ricard. Alongside them, the Distillers' Charity has confirmed that Berry Bros & Rudd, Bruichladdich, Glencairn The Glenmorangie Company, The Last Drop Distillers, That Boutique-y Whisky Company and Whyte & Mackay will be among the participants in 2023.

Beanie Geraedts-Espey, managing director of Distillers Ventures, the Distillers’ Charity’s fundraising arm, said: “The Distillers’ Charity is hugely excited to announce the second edition of the Distillers One of One charity auction, such was the success of the landmark inaugural event last December which raised millions for disadvantaged young people in Scotland.

"It’s an extraordinary opportunity for passionate whisky collectors and the entire Scotch whisky industry – among them family-owned enterprises and global brands – to come together and celebrate our craft, in the service of the young people in our communities. We hope that the results of this philanthropic endeavour will have far-reaching benefits for decades to come.”

Further information about the contents and participating brands of The Distillers One of One will be announced in spring 2023.
