Duncan Taylor Scotch Whisky has received the royal seal of approval for its lot in the second Distillers One of One auction in October.
The Duncan Taylor Scotch Whisky Coronation Trilogy Edition comprises three single malt whiskies from Islay distillery Laphroaig, aged 18, 23, and 26 years. The set was released to commemorate the coronation of King Charles III in May (the Laphroaig Distillery holds a Royal Warrant, awarded by Charles while he was the Prince of Wales).
The three Laphroaig expressions for the Coronation Edition were selected by Duncan Taylor Scotch Whisky chairman Euan Shand from the company's cask inventory. Each spent their last few months of maturation in a different sherry cask before bottling.
A total of 150 numbered Coronation Editions were launched, with two held back: number one was gifted to Queen Camilla at her first official engagement in Scotland as Queen in July, and number two was set aside as the Distillers One of One auction lot.
The number two set comes presented in a red outer case, of the hue on the official coronation crest, with gold detailing. Each of the three decanters and corresponding certificates of authenticity are individually numbered.
Evan Robertson, director of Duncan Taylor Scotch Whisky, said: “To present the original Coronation Set to commemorate such a momentous year was a source of huge pride for the Duncan Taylor Scotch Whisky team. Now to be involved in the Distillers One of One Auction with this trilogy set, is the perfect conclusion to the journey of this very special Edition and a strong auction result will benefit the chosen charities.”
