On 30 January 2027, at the Highland Centre in Ingliston, Edinburgh, Dram of Destiny plans to unite up to 2,500 whisky lovers for Burns Night.

The event aims to break two world records by becoming the largest-in person whisky tasting ever held, as well as the world’s largest Burns Supper. The Guinness World Record for largest in-person whisky tasting is currently held by Nigab and Bruichladdich for a 2,283-person tasting held in Sweden in 2019. Meanwhile, the record for the largest Burns Supper was set in Edinburgh in January 2020 by Scotmid Coop.

Dram of Destiny will raise both awareness and funds for the My Name'5 Doddie Foundation, the charity established by legendary Scottish rugby player Doddie Weir following his diagnosis with Motor Neurone Disease (MND).

"We're aiming to make history," said Dram of Destiny founder Kevin Blair, "but more importantly, we're aiming to make a difference. Every dram poured, every ticket sold, and every person who joins us helps support the fight against MND. If we can bring together Scotland's whisky industry, iconic Scottish talent, and thousands of people for a common cause, we'll have achieved something truly remarkable."

Joining Dram of Destiny's mission is Scottish actor James Cosmo, who will act as master of ceremonies for the record-attempting event. Cosmo is also the face of a social media campaign promoting the event.

Best known for his roles in Braveheart and Game of Thrones, Cosmo's appointment reflects his close ties to the Scotch whisky industry. In 2023, Cosmo partnered with Annandale Distillery to launch The Storyman blended Scotch whisky.

Dram of Destiny founder Kevin Blair said: "James brings something genuinely special to the event. Whisky is built on stories. Scotland is built on stories. James has spent a lifetime telling them. Whether through film, television or now through his own whisky, he has helped share Scottish culture with audiences around the world. To have someone of his stature guiding the evening as we attempt these world records and raise money for My Name'5 Doddie Foundation is a tremendous honour."

In addition to Cosmo, the event will feature a special musical performance by the Celtic rock band Red Hot Chilli Pipers.

Further announcements regarding participating whisky brands, sponsors, and event partners will be made in the coming months.
