Independent bottler Duncan Taylor Scotch Whisky has revealed a new addition to its Rarest Reserve collection. Distilled at Islay's oldest working distilllery in 1982, the Bowmore 1982 is bottled with an age statement of 42 Years Old.
The new bottling has been matured in an ex-Pedro Ximénez cask. Duncan Taylor says the decades of maturation have resulted in the Islay peat, fruit, and seaweed notes of the whisky combining with Pedro Ximénez-influenced flavours. Tasting notes from the brand highlight orchard fruit, meadow flowers, fudge, milk chocolate, spices, and maritime some.
Duncan Taylor launched its Rarest Reserve collection last year, with the introduction of two Macallan whiskies. The collection is released in 100ml bottles, presented in packaging resembling a gold bar.
CEO Shawn Smith explained: “Following the success of the Macallan Rarest Reserve last year, we have plans to release a couple of our finest whiskies this year, starting with the Bowmore.
“Bowmore acolytes will love the premise of this collection as it gives them the opportunity to savour our rarer malts at a fraction of the price of a full bottle.”
Rarest Reserve Bowmore 42 Years Old is bottled at 50.8% and is available at RRP £816 via the Spirits Embassy.
