One of the newest distilleries to join England's growing ranks of whisky makers says it is ramped up production of its whisky after its initial release sold out in 30 minutes.
The Forest Distillery, based in a pub near the town of Macclesfield, Cheshire, produces its malt whisky with locally grown grains and wild yeast. It bottles its whisky in ceramic containers, akin to those used for its Forest Gin range.

The distillery was founded by husband and wife Karl and Lindsay Bond in 2019. Lindsay, who is now its master distiller, said: "This was several years of hard work for me. Whilst whisky ages in a barrel, you don’t know how good it will taste, or if it will even be drinkable. To finally get to pour some and enjoy it with friends was just amazing."
England is now home to some 40 whisky producers, with recent releases including the Henstone Distillery, Oxford Artisan Distillery, and the Wire Works Small Batch whiskies from White Peak Distillery.
