Scottish Highland distillery Fettercairn has unveiled the fourth annual release of its limited-edition 16 Years Old single malt.
For the 2023 limited edition, the distillery team at Fettercairn – led by Icons of Whisky Distiller of the Year Gregg Glass – selected spirit that was matured in ex-bourbon casks and first-fill ex-port pipes. The team says the combination helps to accentuate the distillery's tropical house style.
The single malt has been bottled non-chill filtered at 46.4% ABV.
Previous editions of the 16 Years Old have been matured in oloroso and Palo Cortado casks (2021), and Pedro Ximénez casks (2022). The inaugural release in 2020 was distilled using chocolate malt and finished in port and sherry casks.
Fettercairn 16 Years Old 2023 edition will be available from September priced at £82 for a 70cl bottle from ]specialist whisky retailers in markets including the UK, France, and Germany. A 1-litre version will be available in travel retail.
