Highland distillery Fettercairn has announced the 2023 release of its limited-edition 18-year-old single malt matured in Scottish oak.

First launched in 2022, Fettercairn 18 Years Old is an annual release matured in American white oak casks before a finishing period in casks made from 100 per cent locally sourced Scottish oak.

The single malt whisky is bottled without chill filtration and with natural colour at 46.8% ABV. Tasting notes from the distillery say the expression marries Fettercairn's 'tropical' house style with notes of almond, baking spices, brioche, cacao, and vanilla.

The distillery is involved in local forestry through its Scottish Oak Programme, which encompasses tree planting efforts and skills training in sawmills and cooperages. While led by Fettercairn's master whisky maker Gregg Glass, the programme is designed to support not just the distillery but the wider drinks industry.

Gregg Glass was named master distiller of the year in the global Icons of Whisky awards 2023.

Fettercairn 18 Years Old 2023 limited-edition annual release will be available to purchase from specialist retailers from June in countries including the UK, France, and Germany with a recommended price of £200 per bottle.
