The Glendronach has revealed the first expression to join its "restaged" ultra-premium collection. The update follows the distillery's full rebrand for its collection last year, in collaboration with photographer and director Rankin.

The ultra-premium collection will be another trio of single malts in the distillery's signature sherried style, sitting alongside the Glendronach's core portfolio of 12-, 15-, and 18-year-old whiskies and the newly released Master's Anthology. Launching the collection is the Glendronach Aged 21 Years. It will be followed by 30- and 40-year-old additions later this year. 

Although the packaging has been updated, the liquid in the bottle remains unchanged: it has been matured in oloroso and Pedro Ximénez sherry casks from Andalucía, Spain. The 21-year-old whisky is bottled at 48% ABV, with its natural colour.

Rachel Barrie, master blender at the Glendronach, said: “The Glendronach Aged 21 Years is an elegant and sublime expression, defined by its exceptional balance and depth. The time-honoured maturation style using Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez sherry casks reveals a symphony of richness and finesse, culminating in a long, lingering finish.

“On the nose, it opens with ripe autumn fruits, blackberries, and red plums, lifted by a touch of candied orange. The palate is a revelation: layers of fine sherry and bitter chocolate sauce unfold over nutmeg and ginger-baked Victoria plum pudding, delivering both depth and indulgence.”

The Glendronach's rebrand and surrounding campaign aimed to celebrate the relationship between Spain and Scotland that is embodied in its Spanish sherry cask Scotch single malt whisky. 

The Glendronach Aged 21 Years launches this month at SRP £250, with global availability rolling out over the year.
