Glenfarclas has launched four limited-edition single malts in a Taiwanese tie-up.

The Beauty of Taiwan series, a collection of single malt Scotch whiskies, will be available exclusively through travel retail at Taoyuan International Airport as part of a partnership with Ever Rich Duty Free and Falconbrae, the official distributor of Glenfarclas in Taiwan. There will be a total of 10 casks in the series, with four to be released in the first batch.

Sherry cask matured whiskies, such as those made by Speyside-based Glenfarclas, are particularly popular in Taiwan. The Beauty of Taiwan releases are designed to tie in with the country's historical milestones, making them a potential asset for collectors, and the first batch will feature illustrations of animals indigenous to Taiwan.

The first four casks in the series are:

  • The Formosan Clouded Leopard (41 years old) designed to recall the inauguration of the first Taiwanese highway in 1978.

  • The Formosan Sambar (39 years old) representing the completion of the Hsinchu Science Park in 1980.

  • The Formosan Black Bear (29 years old) remembering the year the Taiwanese professional baseball league was formed.

  • The Formosan Serow (27 years old) to mark the 1992 launch of the railway system linking Taiwan's southern and eastern regions.
