The Time Re:Imagined collection comprises three whiskies, aged 50, 40 and 30 years, which are said to be "the pinnacle" of Glenfiddich's style and designed to capture particular moments in time. Each is presented in a bespoke case.
The rarest in the collection, the 50 Years Old, is a portrayal of Simultaneous Time – the parallel and complex conditions that have affected the liquid during its maturation. It comprises whiskies from three American oak refill casks, all matured in the same warehouse before being married together and finished in an American oak refill cask for two years. Only 220 decanters are being made available, with an outer packaging informed by the
The 40 Years Old represents Cumulative Time, highlighting the remnant vatting process used by Glenfiddich and the layers of flavour which accumulate during this maturation method. Its outer packaging, crafted from the resin-based material jesmonite, is inspired by geology and features dramatic carved grooves.
Completing the collection is the 30 Years Old, representing Suspended Time – the moment when the malt master suspends the development of a whisky through selection for bottling. The outer packaging is designed to evoke flowing ribbons, through which the decanter can be glimpsed.
Brian Kinsman, Glenfiddich malt master, said: “In whisky production, we often talk about the role of malt masters and it is our responsibility to find the delicate balance between the taste of the whisky and the intensity of the oak cask. But we don’t always acknowledge how each cask, each bottle, is absolutely unique because of the time it has spent maturing. Both nature and time play huge roles in making whisky taste like it does and Glenfiddich’s Time Re:Imagined [collection] pays homage to this process and the exquisite liquid it helps to create.”
Claudia Falcone, Glenfiddich global brand director, says: “William Grant, the visionary founder of Glenfiddich, had a dream to create the best dram in the valley. These three expressions are the perfect illustration of that aspiration. The Time Re:Imagined collection bottles that maverick spirit and captures a fleeting moment in time which bridges the past with the present. The quality of these liquids has inspired the distinctive packaging that beautifully tell the stories of these single malts and is a fitting tribute to the unpredictable nature of time itself.”
