Award-winning distillery Gyre & Gimble has announced the launch of Curious Whiskies, an exclusive collection of single cask bottlings and an Islay peated blend, to celebrate the very best of Scotch whisky.
The inaugural release features three single cask expressions. Jura 15 Years Old is described as a complex island whisky balancing a maritime influence with rich honeyed sweetness and citrus notes on the palate. Craigellachie 15 Years Old is described by the producers as having robust malt character with signature hints of tropical fruit and spice on the palate. Ben Nevis 14 Years Old is described as having a rich, waxy texture, deep sherry influence, and layers of stewed fruit on the palate. All three expressions have been bottled at an ABV of 46 per cent.
The Islay peated blend, titled Dirt Turf Peated Whisky, is described as bold and smoky, capturing the essence of the whisky-producing island. Tasting notes from the producers suggest peat smoke, honey, and citrus notes on the nose, with smoky warmth, brine, and sweet malt on the palate. It is also bottled at an ABV of 46 per cent.
Commenting on the release, Jasper Baker, head of sales, said: "Curious Whiskies is about discovery and appreciation — offering whisky lovers the opportunity to explore rare and remarkable casks while indulging in the signature peat and complexity of Islay. Each bottle in this collection tells a story from Scottish folklore right through to the rich heritage of its distillation and the moment it reaches your glass.”
Curious Whiskies will be available at the Gyre & Gimble Wine & Spirit Shop, as well as select retailers and online.
