The first, Glengoyne 10-year-old First Fill Edition, is focused solely on highly flavoursome first fill flasks, with spirit matured in two different casks – bourbon and sherry. It’s ABV is 46% and comes in with an RRP of £52.50.

Next is a limited edition bottle of just 3,000 available – Glengoyne 15-year-old Pedro Ximènez Cask Edition. Finished in fine Pedro Ximènez sherry casks, hoping to follow the success of Glengoyne Pedro Ximènez Cask from the Spirit of Oak range. Both ABV and RRP are higher than the, with 48% ABV and an RRP £99.

The third is the most exclusive of the three for the first year, with just 1,400 bottles per annum. The Glengoyne 26-year-old limited edition comes in with an ABV of 46.8% and an RRP of £450, considerably more valuable than the aforementioned whiskies in the collection. It’s claimed that the exclusive maturity in oloroso sherry casks gives it a “superb depth and complexity.”

Ian Macleod distillers’ Global Travel Retail Director, William Ovens, said the following on the new collection: “The Spirit of Time celebrates the role time plays in making whisky at Glengoyne Distillery where for every minute other whiskies spend in stills ours spends three, all in the name of outstanding fruity flavour. This travel exclusive collection gives consumers a unique opportunity to explore whiskies with time-honoured craft at the heart. As one of Scotland’s greenest distilleries, it was also extremely important to us that our commitment to sustainability was reflected in the striking new packaging.”

The new collection also falls in sync with the distillers’ new brand design. The new packaging is said to feature subtle design cues inspired by the distillers’ connection to time, while the namesake goose across the range has also been given an upgraded illustration. The overhaul also sees a venture into more recyclable and locally sourced packaging. Claiming an industry first, Ian Macleod distillers believe the packing of the 26-year-old is completely unique, presented in a wooden box with removable fitments and a plaque that can be personalised. This means the box can be used for storage and other purposes long after the whisky has been enjoyed.

Dufry will launch the range exclusively in the UK for the month of April, with high profile activation in Edinburgh Airport to allow consumers to sample the aged expressions.
