Coachbuilt Whisky, the brand co-founded by Formula One racing driver Jenson Button, has revealed the first release in its limited edition series created in collaboration with Williams Racing.
The debut whisky released by the new partnership is the Coachbuilt 18 Years Old, a blended Scotch whisky aged in ex-sherry and ex-bourbon casks. The liquid, blended by co-founder George Koutsakis, is sourced from the five Scotch whisky regions of Speyside, Highlands, Islay, Campbeltown, and Lowlands.
Collaborating with Williams Racing holds personal significance for Button: it links where his career began with his current venture. “Williams Racing changed my life back when I was 19 by giving me my first drive in Formula 1. It was only fitting that all these years later, I re-signed with them as an ambassador to embark on this exciting new chapter as they work their way back up the F1 pecking order,” he reflects.
Button continues: “Knowing that the team has such a bright future when it also has such a rich heritage is what also makes our Coachbuilt partnership so exciting. We get to celebrate milestone moments of the past with bespoke blends to match. Our first blend is the 18 Years Old, which pays tribute to one of the most iconic F1 cars of the modern era — the FW18, which picked up both Drivers’ and Constructors’ Championships back in 1996.”
Coachbuilt says that the 18-year-old blend has notes of orchard fruit and winter spice, with vanilla, dark chocolate, and cinnamon.
“We have some incredible plans for future releases, so this very much just the start,” Button hints.
As well as further limited-edition whiskies commemorating Williams Racing and Button’s histories, the partnership will also see Coachbuilt’s core expression served for Williams Racing guests in the paddock.
Coachbuilt 18 Years Old (48% ABV) is currently available for pre-order via specialist spirits retailers in the UK, at RRP £230. A limited run of 3,000 bottles will be released globally.
