Loch Gorm 2021 is a vatting of 24 Oloroso sherry butts, sourced from Bodega Miguel Martin in Spain and filled in 2011 and 2012 with spirit peated to 50ppm. After being matured for a minimum of nine years, the liquids were vatted together and bottled at 46% ABV.
A total of 17,000 bottles of the Loch Gorm 2021 edition are being made available around the world from this week.
Named after Islay's largest freshwater loch, Loch Gorm is Kilchoman's only annual limited edition matured exclusively in Oloroso sherry casks.
Kilchoman founder and master distiller Anthony Wills said: "Although we have always filled the bulk of our spirit into ex-Bourbon barrels, the Loch Gorm releases have shown how well our peated Islay spirit can combine with sherry casks, something that's not always an easy task.
"Rich, bold flavours with a breadth, depth and balance of character that sets it apart, the 2021 edition is packed with juicy fruit, macerated lemon and sweet chargrilled barbecue smoke."
Founded in 2005, the family-run Kilchoman Distillery makes its spirits from barley grown on Islay and completes each stage of the whisky-making process on site, including traditional floor malting.
