Scottish Lowland distillery Kingsbarns has announced the return of its limited-edition whisky Bell Rock in cask strength form.
First launched in 2021 as the 46% ABV Bell Rock Single Malt, the expression is returning as Kingsbarns Bell Rock Cask Strength, bottled at 61.1% and non-chill filtered.
The new single malt whisky is produced using barley from the distillery's home region of Fife and has been matured in oloroso sherry-seasoned butts (30 per cent) and ex-bourbon barrels (70 per cent).
William Wemyss, managing director of Kingsbarns Distillery, said: “Bell Rock Cask Strength is a wonderful addition to our stable of malts and a superb after-dinner dram due to its complexity of flavours. We are passionate about the provenance of our whiskies at Kingsbarns from the barley we source from within our locale in the Kingdom of Fife to the quality of our casks.
“The combination of the ex-bourbon barrels and ex-oloroso casks we use during the maturation process delivers a cask strength malt with a deeper, more complex character whilst still embracing and complementing the fruity floral notes and elegance of the signature profile of our Kingsbarns’ malts collection.”
The Kingsbarns Bell Rock Cask Strength will be available to buy directly from Kingsbarns Distillery and from specialist retailers from 21 August (RRP £75). A total of 3,660 bottles will be available.
