Isle of Skye distillery Talisker has launched the 2024 edition of its 30 Years Old single malt. The Diageo-owned distiller is known for its “pepper and smoke” flavour profile, characteristics which the brand says the new release embodies.
Ewan Gunn, senior ambassador for Diageo’s single malt scotch, said: “This new release of Talisker 30 Years Old holds all the classic characteristics of Talisker, yet elevated to new heights. Soaring with sweet smoke with pointy notes of pepper, this latest release is an elegant and complex expression of Talisker. The 30 Years Old is a consistently exceptional release.”
Tasting notes supplied by Talisker highlight flavours of the apples, stone fruit, dark chocolate, and pecan fudge joining the pepper and smoke that Gunn mentions.
This latest edition of the 30 Years Old is also the rarest so far according to Talisker, with a 2,610-bottle release worldwide.
Matt McPherson, owner of Inverness bar the Malt Room, described the Talisker 30 Years Old as “the definition of balance.” He continued: “It’s like drinking the best smoked butter of your life with hints of brine that transport you to the shores of the West Coast.”
The 2024 edition of Talisker 30 Years Old is bottled at 49.5% ABV and is available at RRP £1,300 via selected retailers.
