The range of blended malt Scotch whiskies launches this month with three expressions – Orchard Outburst, Smoke Symphony, and Hazelnut Harmony. All the whiskies were all distilled, matured, and blended under the guidance of the group's master blender, Michael Henry, at the Loch Lomond Distillery outside Glasgow.
Orchard Outburst includes spirit that was distilled with Chardonnay wine yeast – which Loch Lomond Group says has helped to intensify the blend's fruit and citrus flavours – and was matured in ex-bourbon casks.
Smoke Symphony has been blended with some peated spirit and finished in ex-Rioja wine casks, for a palate that Loch Lomond Group says carries notes of smoke, spice and dark berries.
Hazelnut Harmony was matured in toasted American oak casks, which the distillery says have imparted sweet notes of honey, vanilla and nuts to the whisky.
Each of the no-age-statement blended malt whiskies has been bottled at 46% ABV without chill filtration or added colour. The packaging for each features a bespoke illustration to tell the creative story behind it and indicate its aroma and flavour profile.
Michael Henry said: "Noble Rebel is an exciting new addition to the growing Loch Lomond Group portfolio. At the heart of each expression is our shared passion for blending finely curated malts into a product of beauty. Bringing new ideas to old ways and deeply rooted traditions, our drams are modern masterpieces that welcome newcomers with open arms, and delight old friends alike.”
Each edition of Noble Rebel blended malt whisky is available from 15 February on the Noble Rebel website (RRSP £40 per 70cl bottle). Noble Rebel will also be available from 1 March 2023 at The Whisky Exchange.
