Highland distiller Loch Lomond has announced a 25-year-old malt whisky, the newest addition to its portfolio.
Created by Loch Lomond Group’s master blender Michael Henry, the new expression is crafted from three whiskies of varying the flavour profiles and strengths. Before blending, the whiskies were matured for a quarter century in first fill, refill, and recharred American oak casks. For Loch Lomond, its onsite cooperage forms an essential part of the maturation process, allowing the distillery control over cask care and charring.
The resultant whisky showcases Loch Lomond’s “signature style of fruit, honey, and soft smoke,” the distillery shared.
Henry said: “The release of Loch Lomond 25 Years Old is a significant milestone for us. This is a very special whisky which is perhaps one of the finest examples of our signature distillery style and underlines our continuous commitment to creating remarkable flavours.”
Displayed in a blue case — representing its namesake loch — the copper accents on the 25 Years Old’s packaging nod to the distillery straight neck pot stills. Loch Lomond says it is the home of Scotland’s only set of straight neck pot stills, which allow it to develop its lighter spirit and fruit-forward flavour.
Loch Lomond 25 Years Old (46% ABV) is available now via Loch Lomond and specialist retailers, with an RRP of £390.
