The 21 Years Old and 30 Years Old expressions were crafted by the distillery's master blender, Michael Henry, using spirit from Loch Lomond's innovative straight-necked pot stills.
Loch Lomond 21 Years Old showcases three styles of peated spirit, all matured separately in American oak casks before being blended together for up to three months before bottling. Tasting notes from the distillery say to expect vanilla fudge, peaches, pears and cinnamon. Bottled at 46% ABV and non-chill filtered, the whisky is presented in a premium bottle housed within a navy blue and gold carton and is priced at £140.
Meanwhile, the Loch Lomond 30 Years Old has been matured in American oak casks since distillation, with half the liquid finished in specially selected first-fill oloroso sherry casks to bring forward the whisky's underlying fruity character. Bottled at cask strength (47% ABV), the whisky is also packaged in a premium bottle with a chocolate-brown and gold carton and is priced at £500. Tasting notes supplied by the distillery say it has aromas of honey, peach and vanilla with toffee, pineapple and subtle spices on the palate.
These releases complete the new core range of Loch Lomond Whiskies, which has been in production since the company restructured its portfolio and refreshed its brand earlier this year. The range features single malt whiskies aged 10 to 30 years old, and will have another addition - a 14 years old - later this year.
Master blender Michael Henry said: "Working on these two aged products has been a pleasure. Each expression perfectly showcases our signature style and the range of flavours that Loch Lomond Whiskies is known for - fruits, spice and a hint of peat. Working with both American oak and oloroso casks has created wonderfully distinctive, warming flavours that we hope whisky lovers will enjoy."
John Grieveson, chief marketing officer at Loch Lomond Whiskies, added: "We know that these exceptional liquids will excite our existing Loch Lomond Whisky customers and whisky fans, further enhancing our core range."
Both Loch Lomond 21 Years Old and Loch Lomond 30 Years Old will be available globally.
