Fans of Bowmore can explore a musical interpretation of the whisky and its Scottish home through an exclusive new composition by award-winning pianist Hania Rani.
Rani is a Polish-born classically trained pianist who now improvises and composes within the neo-classical genre of music. She has composed musical scores for television and film, including Amazon's The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart, and performed concerts in venues including The Roundhouse in London and Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg.
She devised her composition for Bowmore, entitled 'The Boat', during a visit to Islay to visit the distillery and explore its natural surroundings. The composition has been released accompanied by an interpretive film.
Rani said: “Nature is central to my inspiration and being on Islay really amplified my own sense of natural connection. There is something about Bowmore because it comes from Islay, rooted in the land shaped by nature, which perfectly represents 'The Boat'. Listening to the song, you are transported to another place as you forget about the passage of time and become immersed in the moment.”
Kirsteen Beeston, global marketing director for Bowmore, said: “Collaboration is very much part of Bowmore, and we seek to celebrate the art of composition with partners who can bring distinct aspects of our whisky and our story to the fore, interpreting our whisky through their own creative lens. Hania captures so much of our intentional approach to whisky making in her own craft, making her the perfect collaborator to bring a truly exceptional and expressive moment to life.
"Music, much like the creation of Bowmore, requires many dimensions and elements to come together in harmony to make it complete and it is the skilled composition which reflects the absolute artistry.”
'The Boat' will be released globally on July 24th and will be accessible at gondwana.lnk.to/Ghosts.
