Sazerac, the spirits company behind brands including Buffalo Trace, has announced that it is expanding the Sazerac Barrel Select programme to the United Kingdom.

The membership-based programme, which was previously limited to the US, offers the chance to taste and purchase a private barrel of whiskey from one of Sazerac's distilleries. 

This represents the latest expansion by Sazerac in the UK. Last year, the company opened Buffalo Trace Distillery London, its first brand home in the capital, located in London's Covent Garden.

Diego Bianchi, general manager of Sazerac Barrel Select, said: “We are thrilled to introduce the Sazerac Barrel Select program to the UK, offering a special opportunity to engage with one of our most requested programs that has captivated fans in the United States for years. The UK has an incredibly discerning appreciation for quality whiskey, and we hope that they will be just as excited as we are to share in this experience.”

A barrel can be selected by programme members via a private tasting experience at Buffalo Trace Distillery London, with cost dependent on factors such as yield and price per bottle. 

For those not wishing to purchase a barrel, the Sazerac Barrel Select tasting experience is another opportunity to try single-barrel whiskeys. During the tasting experience, members will explore factors affecting the whiskey including age, ageing location, and cask. Three Buffalo Trace single barrel whiskeys can be sampled, and one taken home in a personalised bottle.
