Whisky club the Scotch Malt Whisky Society (SMWS) is inviting non-members to some of its tasting and pairing events at its venues.

Usually limited to club members only, tasting events are held weekly at the SMWS's London, Edinburgh, and Glasgow Members' Rooms and partner bars. Now, non-members will also be able to purchase tickets, for "a taste of the Society experience". 

Events run by the SMWS include Foodie Fridays at the Bath Street, Glasgow location — which will feature "unusual" food and whisky pairings on 27 June — and Drag Me to the Whisky at Edinburgh's Queen Street on 28 June, at which guests will have a whisky tasting, supper, and entertainment from Scottish drag queen Ivy. In London, the society's Between Sips N' Puffs cigar and whisky tasting will be held at the Telegraph on 24 June.

Other than scheduled events, the Edinburgh Queen Street location remains open to non-members, as usual. The bar recently shared the recipe for its Wandering Home cocktail, in celebration of Scotland's whisky festivals. 

Simone Malavolta, Greville Street venue manager at the SMWS, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for adventurous whisky fans across London, Edinburgh, and Glasgow to discover ultra-rare and exceptional single cask whiskies they would not come across otherwise. The Society is all about exploring flavours 'off the beaten track' and we look forward to bringing even more people on this journey of discovery with us.

“Events like the ‘Foodie Fridays’ series at Bath Street, or the ‘Booze N’ Blues’ at Greville Street are a really exciting and unexpected way of exploring the world of whisky — where else can you try three single cask whiskies paired with a flight of Mexican-inspired delicacies, or sip a single malt dram while listening to jazz legends perform whisky-themed jams?”
