The Scotch Malt Whisky Society (SMWS) is rounding out 2024 with several new whisky bottlings for its members. The SMWS is a global whisky club, founded in 1983. The Society, which last year celebrated its 40th anniversary, now has about 40,000 members worldwide.
Among several new releases from the SMWS is its A Dram Good Christmas tasting pack (RRP £39), which includes three 50ml bottles of Scotch whisky. The festive pack comes with tasting notes for each limited-edition single malt whisky.
The Christmas pack follows the SMWS' recent Winter Series release of four bottles celebrating seasonal moments between October and January: Halloween, Christmas, Hogmanay, and Burns Night. Each bottle includes a QR code to a video of SMWS tasting panel chair Robin Laing singing or narrating a seasonal poem or story. The full set is available now (RRP £310), with individual bottles released over the winter months.
The SMWS has also announced the Creators Collection, a new series of bottlings exploring different flavours and techniques in whisky, which will be released in several instalments. The first set of whiskies to be released from the collection is Peat Plants, a set of four peated single malt whiskies.
The limited-edition Peat Plants release includes Fern & Flame (26 Years Old), Peat Bloom (33 Years Old), Moss & Mist (25 Years Old), and Heather Ember (25 Years Old). Each bottling presents a different peat-smoked profile, including earthy, floral, maritime, and medicinal notes.
Peat Plants is available as a set (RRP £1,300) or as individual bottles (RRP £195–£425). Further instalments from the Creators Collection are expected in the coming months, exploring more elements of whisky making.
