Eden Mill has honoured its hometown through the latest instalment of its Art of St Andrews series. With four releases so far, the series is renewed each year with a different artist collaboration.
For the 2024 edition, Eden Mill has collaborated with artist Babs Pease, a lino-print artist influenced by the landscapes of Scotland. Pease’s design shows University of St Andrews students in red gowns, the cathedral, the harbour village, and other “hidden surprises”.
Each release in the Art of St Andrews series is an opportunity for head distiller Scott Ferguson to present an innovative use of casks. The latest edition is matured in Amarone red wine, oloroso, and Pedro Ximénez casks. Eden Mill says the result is a single malt with notes of cinnamon, red and dark fruits, raisins, and oak spice.
Hannah Ingram, head of marketing at Eden Mill, said: “With the Art of St Andrews release this year we wanted to showcase familiar sights and scenes from our hometown that will be instantly recognisable for locals and tourists alike.
“From St Andrews cathedral and the iconic red gowns of the University students to the lone golfer chipping out of a bunker — there’s something for everyone. This stunning artwork is matched by a whisky with rich, red wine notes from the Amarone casks which are balanced with sherry sweetness.”
Eden Mill’s new distillery is due to recommence distillation later in 2024, and will open doors to visitors from spring 2025.
Art of St Andrews 2024 is bottled at 46.5% ABV and is available for RRP £150 via Eden Mill.
