Talisker brand ambassador GB, Jason Clark has taken to the road two years later, touring the country in the distillery’s branded Land Rover Defender. During this time Jason will provide on-the-road training, inspiring bartenders to experiment with nature in their creations. Starting in the Isle of Skye he is travelling all the way down to Cornwall and back up again, hosting events at 17 venues across key locations including Edinburgh, Manchester and London.
Bartenders nationwide are invited to create a cocktail that embodies the Wild Spirit character of Talisker. Creations must be entered online for judging and the drinks must also be listed on menus in their bars across September and October so the drinks can be showcased to the world and experienced by guests.
An optional addition to this cocktail menu challenge is that Talisker will pledge 50p to Parley for the oceans for the first 20,000 Talisker Rewild cocktails sold by participating bars over the two-month period towards the protection and regeneration of wild ocean ecosystems. As part of the campaign, Talisker has partnered with Malts.com to provide a 10 per cent discount code on all Talisker products (under £100) across the length of the tour and challenge period.
The judging panel includes Jason Clark, Jack Sotti, head of brand advocacy GB and Stefanie Anderson, Talisker Race to Skye champion, who will select the two bartenders that have best executed drinks to rewild their guests as per the judging criteria. The winning bartenders plus two guest colleagues each will then go on to receive a Talisker Wild Spirit adventure in Scotland.
Jason comments: “In 2019 we launched the Talisker Wild Spirit Tour – a fantastic experience which generated a huge amount of positive feedback. We had an incredible amount of interest, support and participation from bartenders all over the country which has led to coming back bigger and better for 2021 with the Talisker Rewild Tour and Challenge. The main aim is to inspire, motivate, incentivise and reward bartenders after what has been an incredibly tough time for our industry. The ingredients, presentation and story are crucial elements, aiming to provide guests with a rewilding experience. The complex profile of Talisker stands up extremely well in mixed drinks, from sours to highballs and more but it shouldn’t just end there.”
The top 100 Rewild cocktail serves from around the country that successfully complete the menu listing challenge will receive a prize pack. Entries are judged based on email submissions, the photographic proof on Instagram of its addition to any form of menu and a potential mystery shop visit to ensure it’s being sold in bar.
