The Dalmore announces annual series to celebrate rare 30-year-old spirit

The 2021 edition, aged in 30-year-old tawny port pipes, marks the first release in the new series

16 October 2021

The Dalmore Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky is introducing an annual limited-edition 30 Years Old, with this year’s edition a collaboration between Highland distillery The Dalmore and independent portmaker Graham’s.

Aged in 30-year-old tawny port pipes from Graham’s, just 1,318 bottles of The Dalmore 30 Years Old 2021 Edition will be available globally.

The whisky started life in American white oak ex-bourbon casks before being transferred into the tawny port pipes until ready to be bottled. The Dalmore aims to deliver a “gorgeously mellow whisky with an amazing, long finish”.

The distillery describes this expression as possessing notes of brioche, orange, forest fruits, vanilla and almond.

Whisky maker Gregg Glass explained: “This new annual release, although instantly collectable, is intended for whisky fans seeking the finest Scotch whisky to enjoy every year and we’re proud that it is a celebration of our longstanding relationship with Graham’s Port.”

Charles Symington, head winemaker for Graham’s, said: “It’s wonderful to see this series come to life with the launch of The Dalmore 30 Years Old. Our rare 30-year-old Tawny Port is an exceptional liquid that we are tremendously proud of and its complex palate works beautifully with The Dalmore’s whisky to create something truly special.”

Presented in a framed case, The Dalmore 30 Years Old 2021 Edition (42.8% ABV) is available from Harrods with an RRP of £4,500.
