Speyside distillery the Glen Grant has released the final expression in its Glasshouse Collection. The Glen Grant 30 Years Old is the highest-aged release in the collection.
The Glasshouse Collection pays homage to a forefather of the Glen Grant, James 'The Major' Grant, who inherited the distillery in 1872 and whose Victorian glasshouse held "rare and delicate plants" collected on his world travellers.
The three-part collection was announced in 2024, with the first two whiskies — the Glen Grant 21 Years Old and 25 Years Old — released at the time and a the 30 Years Old confirmed as a pending release.
For this collection, the distillery draws a parallel between the glasshouse, with its rare flora, and the Glen Grant warehouses which house decades-old single malt Scotch whiskies.
Each whisky in the collection so far represents a "distinct moment in the passage of daylight" to allude to the development of character within the cask over time. The 21-year-old whisky is dawn, the 25-year-old bottling is golden hour, and the new 30-year-old release represents twilight.
All three whiskies have been matured in American oak bourbon and oloroso sherry casks. The Glen Grant says the 30 Years Old has notes of oak, nectarine, honey, and dried fruit.
The Glen Grant has been inspired by its own grounds for multiple collections in recent times. Earlier this year, the distillery launched the Splendours Collection, a new series drawn from its "most precious casks", which debuted with a 65-year-old single malt whisky.
The Glen Grant 30 Years Old (48% ABV, RRP £2,250) is available now via specialist retailers.
