The event - which took place at the new Rolls Royce showroom in Mayfair, London - was a showcase for The Glen Grant Dennis Malcolm 60th Anniversary Editon Aged 60 Years. The whisky was designed in tribute to the career of Dennis Malcolm, one of Scotland's longest-serving distillers, who has spent much of his career with The Glen Grant.
Attendees at the launch event on 6 October included Bob Kunze-Concewitz, Campari CEO, designer Joshua Kane, and editor of NetJets Farhad Heydari. Guests had the chance to enjoy a taste of the rare liquid, some with Malcolm himiself, before enjoying canapés and The Glen Grant cocktails.
The Dennis Malcolm 60th Anniversary Edition comprises liquid that was filled into casks in October 1960, the brand's oldest bottling to date, which was matured in hand-selected oloroso sherry casks.
Only 360 decanters of the limited-edition whisky will be available, in select global markets via specialist retailers. The first decanter (Bottle No. 88) was purchased at auction during a special dinner at the Shanghai St Regis Hotel in China. The winning bid of 380,000 RMB, from a whisky collector in Chengdu, was the highest sale price achieved in The Glen Grant's history.
Kunze-Concewitz said: "With the launch of The Glen Grant Dennis Malcolm 60th Anniversary Edition, we celebrate and pay tribute to the career of a true Scottish gentleman, a globally recognised Scotch whisky craftsman, and an unwavering champion for the whisky industry.
"This is an incredibly exciting time for The Glen Grant as we make our entrance into the luxury market, and we could think of nowhere better to showcase this extremely special expression of our portfolio."
Malcolm said: "It's been such a joy to spend my life working in an industry and with a craft that I'm so passionate about. Much like our UK partner, Rolls Royce, The Glen Grant has always been about consistent dedication to craftsmanship and quality, and this comes across in the high standard of what we produce."
