The Glenallachie has announced the second bottling in its Sinteis Series. The whisky follows Sinteis Part I, a
2014 Chinquapin & PX Cask Matured whisky released in April 2025.
Named for the Gaelic work for synthesis, the Sinteis Series explores a dual cask approach to maturation, pairing two distinct cask types.
For Sinteis Part II, the GlenAllachie has matured its spirit in oloroso sherry casks and Scottish new oak casks, which the distillery says allows whisky lovers to "discover the untapped potential" of new oak. The whisky has been bottled at its cask strength of 58.3% ABV.
Billy Walker, the GlenAllachie's master distiller, said: "The Sinteis Series is a celebration of creativity at the very heart of whisky making, a chance to explore how different casks, when thoughtfully combined, can create something truly remarkable.
"With Part II, I was inspired to shine a light on the character of Scottish virgin oak — a rare and distinctive choice in maturation. By pairing its bold personality with the familiar depth of oloroso sherry casks, I wanted to craft a whisky that feels both adventurous and reassuringly timeless."
Sharing tasting notes for the whisky, Walker described "layers of indulgent flavour" including vanilla, honeycomb, and mocha from the new oak, and warm spice and fruit notes from the oloroso sherry cask. "It’s a whisky that speaks to both curiosity and comfort," Walker concluded.
Earlier this year, the GlenAllachie's 12-year-old single malt was named World's Best Single Malt in the World Whiskies Awards 2025. The distillery recently partnered with Briggs of Burton to install a mechanical vapour recompression (MVR) system, through which it expects to make more than 90 per cent energy savings in the wash distillation process.
