Each bottle bears a design from Jaguar Classic and is presented in a custom wooden box together with a bespoke book and key ring, designed to evoke the spirit and charisma of the E-Type car. The release is even limited to 265 bottles to represent the brake horsepower of the launch-spec models.
Whisky maker Bob Dalgarno commented: “The Glenturret E-type 60th Anniversary whisky replicates on the senses the E-type’s historic 11-hour, overnight 600-mile journey from Jaguar’s Coventry factory to the Geneva Motor Show with legendary test driver Norman Dewis at the wheel. The whisky is a minimum of 30 years old and drawn from four casks: three Oloroso sherry-seasoned European oak butts, which bring a rich intensity; and a single Amontillado sherry-seasoned American oak quarter cask which gives a delicate elegance.”
The new release has a ‘complex’ nose, bringing together sweetness, oiliness and fruit, and a palate of toffee apple and caramel, as well as wood spice, before a ‘sweet, spicy, and warming finish.’
The Glenturret E-Type 60th Anniversary single malt will be exclusively available in the UK from The Glenturret's website, retailing at £1,500.
